Easiest trend: Ombre hair color

If you have opened up any sort of fashion or gossip magazine in the past hair, you have definitley seen the trend of ombre colored hair, nails, and clothes. Ombre, best defined, is a gradation from dark to light, or light to dark. You get it. You’ve seen it. Do you like it?

Ombre hair has best been seen on ladies like Sarah Jessica Parker, Whitney Port, Rachel Bilson, Shenae Grimes, Cameron Diaz, and Lauren Conrad.

The best part about this trend? How easy it is!! As long as your base color is the color you want to be the darkest, you are good to go! You don’t even need to touch up your roots for months at a time.

The trick? Making it natural looking, like a hippie/surfer/grunge-chic look, instead of a trashy look. You also don’t want a horizontal line in your hair where the colors meet, therefore see a professional to get this look!

My tip– get highlights, painted on, or foiled. Start slow, with a root of an inch or so, and let it grow out naturally. Stay tone on tone, and don’t mix cool with warm, and vice versa. Never go more than four shades difference.

If you are too scared to colour your hair like this, opt for hair extensions (like Camilla Alves, above.) Extensions are the easiest way to change your hair color, especially with a fading technique.

I did this look on Holly, one of my recent portfoilio models, at Studio 9 Salon I did a red base on her and a fabulous copper color towards the bottom. The result? A gorgeous ombre effect that will stop everyone in their tracks.

Are you willing to try this look?
